About

Hi and thank you for visiting our page.
In 1876, Charles Wells bought his first brewery on the banks of the River Ouse in Bedford. Today, Charles Wells is the UK’s largest privately owned brewing company, with a substantial pub chain across the UK and France, and a rapidly growing export business.  Each year Charles Wells employees and visitors raise thousands of pounds for our chosen charities and this year is no exception.
2015 marks the first ever 'Charles Wells Cycle Challenge' and we've gone in big!  In June just over 20 of us will be cycling from the Charles Wells managed hotel and restaurant, the d'Parys, located on De Parys Avenue in Bedford, all the way to The Bombardier pub in actual Paris, France...that's around 336 miles (or 540 kilometres).  And what's more, we've given ourselves just four days to do this!
What about the people doing it? Our group is made up of a total mish-mash of people ranging from those who like a decent road ride every weekend, to those who haven't ridden a bike in about 10 years.  As you can imagine, some of us have a LOT further to go with our training than others get up to speed.  Especially considering our first day of the challenge requires us to ride just over 100 miles. Ouch!  But it's all for a great cause (or two) and with that at the forefront of our minds we are all pushing hard to get the miles in, and rack up some decent saddle time between now and June.
What do we need from you? Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to our charities, St. John's Hospice in Moggerhanger (Sue Ryder) and MacMillan Cancer Support.  More information on both of our charities can be found on our Facebook page - Just search for 'Charles Wells 2015 Cycle Challenge'. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
Lastly, we all really appreciate your support for this and whether you can donate £10 or £1,000 it doesn't matter as each and every penny goes towards helping the charities with the challenges that they each face on a daily basis.  So, from the bottom of all of our hearts, thank you.
Team includes: Peter Wells, Simon Taylor, Debbie Moore, Karl Ottomar, Jo Ottomar, Craig Mayes, Richard Bishop, Sean McAndrew, Justin Adams, Alison Britt, Alyson Kerr, Jackie Popland, Jakub Kebisek, Amanda Danes, Emma Lingings, Gary Layton, Anthony Shepherdson, Matt Meikle, Paul Craven, Laura Henman and Neil Warnock
Fundraising has now finished, but thanks for visiting this page.

Macmillan Cancer Support - At Macmillan, we know cancer can affect everything. Your body, your relationships, your money, everything. But Macmillan is here to help people live life, no matter what. We give you the support you need to hold on to who you are and what’s important.

But right now, we can’t reach everyone who needs us. Almost half of us will get cancer, and we need your help to make sure that people get the support they need to face one of the toughest fights of their lives.

Life with cancer is still life -let’s help people live it.

We are a charity registered in England and Wales (261017), Scotland (SCO39907) and the Isle of Man (604).
